MLRT Speaker Series: Terry Gross

We are always excited to be the event photographer and a sponsor for Main Line Reform Temple’s Speaker Series. This past February we had local celebrity journalist, Terry Gross!

Terry Gross is the host and co- executive producer of Fresh Air. Fresh Air is an interview based radio show nationally broadcasted from right here in the Philadelphia area on WHYY-FM and NPR.

It was a wonderful afternoon learning about Ms. Gross’s interviews and approach to interviewing artists. She has championed interviewing artists from actors, illustrators, musicians to comedians asking the tough questions with empathy and curiosity. Speaking personally it was hearing Ms. Gross speak of her interview with famed children’s author and illustrator, “Where the Wild Things Are”, Maurice Sendak. An air of intrigue and silence fell among the crowd of listeners as we listened to what would be her last interview with the author. Eye’s began to bead with tears as he reflected on his life and his fondness for being interviewed by Ms. Gross. It was a beautiful moment when the excerpt of the interview ended with his comment to her “I’ll go before you go, so I won’t have to miss you.”, referring to Ms. Gross.
